SPERMOGRAM AND
SPERM CAPACITATION

The spermogram is the analysis of the sperm. Several parameters such as spermatic concentration, motility and morphology are evaluated. To achieve accurate results, certain conditions must be guaranteed.

Should one of these parameters is altered, a full medical evaluation of the patient must be carried out to establish the primary cause, and an assisted fertilization technique should be used to help the sperm fertilize the egg.

Sperm Capacitation, as a diagnostic test, is indicated in cases in which the sperm motility is diminished (Astenozoospermia). In general, when sperm are treated with a special medium-washing and the proper temperature and pH conditions are given, activation and improved motility are achieved.
